GCAA Intramural Basketball Playoff Brackets

The GCAA Intramural Playoff Brackets for the 3rd boys, 4th boys, 7-8 boys and 4-6 girls division are set forth below. The 7-8 boys started their playoffs Saturday Feb 4th and the remaining divisions start Saturday Feb 11th. The 5-6 boys brackets are not yet published since they are dependent upon the results of the Wed Feb 8th games.

Girls Basketball Beats Roslyn 50-20

With the gymnasium adorned with posters and photographs of the six seniors on the team, Garden City’s girls basketball team played host to the Roslyn Bulldogs on Friday evening, February 3rd for Senior night. This was the last regular season home game for seniors Christina Mangels, Kim Ryan, Jess Stein, Liz Stutzmann, Katie Trimmer, and Mary Valitutto-Gaudiosi.

The GCAA hoops action is heating up as the 7-8 boys started their playoff action this Sat Feb 4th highlighted by a double overtime game between the Knicks and Bulls. In the 5-6 grade regular season competition, there was 1 one point game and 2 three point games Wed Feb 1st followed by 2 one point games on Sat Feb 4th as squads positioned for playoff position.

GCAA Travel Baseball Tryouts

The GCAA will be holding travel baseball tryouts in mid-March for the spring, summer and fall 2012 seasons for any child between ages 8 and 12 who lives or attends school in Garden City. Teams are divided by little league age as opposed to school grade. Players born after April 30, 2004 are not eligible this year.

Boys Varsity Swim and Dive Beat Rival Long Beach, Win Divisions

Thirteen years can seem like a long time. Just ask Coach Anne Sullivan. That’s how many years the Boys Varsity Swim and Dive Team have lost to rival Long Beach. However, on Tuesday, January 31st that losing streak against Long Beach came to an end when the Boys Swim and Dive Team swam to an overwhelming victory. The final score was GC 99 Long Beach 82.

Boys Fencing Team Beats Great Neck

The Boys Fencing Team had an exciting win over Great Neck South 14-13 on February 1st. Teammates then went on to a strong showing at the Nassau County Individual Meet at Wheatley High School on Saturday, February 4th. Congratulations to all.
