Emphasizing the challenge school districts are facing in the “era of the tax levy cap,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Robert Feirsen proposed a 2012/2013 budget of $104,976,751, which is 3.82 percent higher than last year, at the first Garden City Board of Education budget work session held on February 7th.

Portion Of St. Paul’s Roof, Clock Tower To Be Repaired

The clock tower and a portion of the roof on the Main Building at St. Paul’s damaged during Tropical Storm Irene in late August will now be repaired after the Garden City Board of Trustees voted to approve the work at its February 2nd meeting.

Board Schedules Public Hearing on Tax Cap Override

The Garden City Board of Trustees unanimously voted to hold a public hearing on March 15th to hear comments regarding a possible override by the Village of the state’s two percent tax levy cap.
