Pomfret/Driscoll Play Well, but Lose Final 2 Games
      The Boys hosted the top team in Western New England Prep League today when they played Wilbraham and Monson. Wilbraham was loaded with talent and size, they literally had kids at 6’10, 6’10, 6’8, 6’6, 6’5, and 6’4. They were not only tall however, they also shot pretty well and executed their offense.

Football For 6-7 Year Olds
      There is one local team, the Broncos, which allows boys entering first grade to play full contact football, on their 6-7 year old squad. This is an excellent opportunity for first graders to play full contact football, in the Nassau Suffolk Football League.

Trojan Runners Are State Champions
      The girls from Garden City do it again! Not only did they send an amazing 9 girls to represent Nassau County Section VIII to the NY State meet at Cornell University on Saturday, but each one of them came home with a medal and All State honors.

Second Place In State Championships
      On February 27, Connor Horl, a Senior at Garden City High school and 215 lb wrestler, finished in second place at the New York State Wrestling Championships in Albany. Connor was seeded sixth and won his first three matches by 3-2 scores on his way to the finals, defeating both the number 2 and 3 seeded wrestlers in very exciting matches.

GC Centennial Spring 2010 Intramural Season Registration deadline is looming
     The Garden City Centennial Soccer Club will be opening their spring season on Saturday April 10th. Girls play 9:00AM until 1:00PM and boys play from 1:00PM until 5:00PM (with the exception of Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st grade). The registration deadline is January 31st. Registrations received after January 31st will be accepted based on space and availability and is subject to a $25.00 late fee.

GCAA Intramural March Mayhem Basketball Playoffs Continue
      GCAA Intramural basketball playoffs fittingly started on March 1st and the madness immediately ensued at St. Paul’s. The 4-5 girls play in game was held March 1st while the 5-6 boys finished their regular season with 8 of the 12 seeds up in the air depending on what happened with the 2 Monday night games.

      The Garden City Youth Lacrosse players in Grades 4 through 6 enjoyed a huge treat last Wednesday night as they practiced with Coach Steve Finnell and his G.C. High School Varsity Lacrosse team.

Garden City’s Reina Twins Take Silver
      Both Thomas and Jack Reina traveled to Binghamton, New York for the annual New York State Youth Wrestling Championships held on March 7th. Both boys wrestled in the Schoolboy Division which consisted of 400 wrestlers, a stunning increase from 250 boys last year.

      The Garden City Men’s Association will be holding their annual NCAA Final Game party at the Uptown Grill on Monday, April 5th. The evening starts at 8:30 with game time scheduled for approximately 9:15 p.m.. The cost is $100 per person which covers an open bar and food.

      The 4th grade boys GCAA travel team continued their unbeaten season with a final regular season victory over Half Hollow Hills resulting in an 18-0 regular season record.
